Common questions
On-demand webinars
Browse the library
Go to Resources → On-Demand Webinars (or click the tile in your portal). You can search by keyword or filter by topic category using the chips at the top of the page. The library contains over 100 recorded sessions covering food labelling, allergens, dairy, imports, HACCP, enforcement powers, and more.
Watch a webinar
Click on any webinar title to open its detail page. The video player is at the top of the page. You can pause, rewind, and adjust the volume. Course notes (where available) are displayed below the video as a PDF viewer — you can also download them.
Complete the knowledge assessment
After watching, scroll down to the Knowledge Assessment section. Answer all questions and click Submit. You need to pass to earn your completion certificate. If you do not pass first time, you can retake the assessment immediately.
Download your certificate
Once you pass the assessment, your CPD completion certificate is generated automatically. You can download it as a PDF from the webinar page or from your Certificates page at /portal/certificates.

Complete the course
Once you have completed all sections and passed the final assessment, your CPD certificate is generated and added to your certificates page.
Common questions
Training Needs Adviser
What the Training Needs Adviser does
The Training Needs Adviser helps you identify which webinars are most relevant to your current training needs. It works by asking you to self-assess your confidence against the FSA Competency Standard — the framework used to assess food law enforcement officers in the UK. Based on your responses, it recommends specific webinars from the library that address your gaps.
Step 1 — Tell us about your role
Select your role type (for example, food hygiene officer, food standards officer, or dual-qualified) and how long you have been in your current post. This helps tailor the recommendations to your experience level and area of work.
Step 2 — Select your relevant sections
The FSA Competency Standard is divided into sections A to F, covering common activities, enforcement, imports, meat hygiene, dairy, and feed. Select only the sections that apply to your role — there is no expectation to cover all sections. Officers are assessed only on activities relevant to their work.
Step 3 — Rate your confidence
For each activity within your selected sections, choose one of four ratings: Not confident, Developing, Competent, or Not applicable. Be honest — the more accurate your self-assessment, the more useful the recommendations will be. Activities are grouped within each section to make it easier to work through them.
Step 4 — Review your recommendations
Once you have rated all activities, the adviser analyses your gaps and produces a prioritised list of webinar recommendations, each with a brief explanation of why it addresses your needs. You will also receive a short CPD planning note you can share with your manager or include in your CPD record.
Access the Training Needs Adviser
Click the 'Training needs adviser' tile in your Subscriber Portal, or go directly to /portal/competency-adviser. The tool is available to all active subscribers.
Common questions

Common questions
